Ahh, Rollover. Don’t you wonder why Mr. Pilates put this as the third exercise?
Was he just being mean?
I think that’s a valid question which I try to answer in the linked Deep Dive but really we’ll never know so let’s look at Rollover’s benefits instead:
If The Hundred teaches us how to hold up the weight of our pelvis, Rollover makes us figure out how to take that weight and move it through space!
We get to roll out our spine under load - it can feel like a fabulous massage especially if we remember to reach our head and tail in opposite directions.
We start to warm up our shoulder girdle and arms, laying the groundwork for what’s to come.
