Vibrancy Bites Oct Edition

Soft Hips and Elvis Sways in your 4 minute Movement Bite, + easy ways to up your Vibe, S2 podcast trailer, studio news, and even an Archive Dive!

Happy October!

I have so much stuff I want to share so let’s get to it

I have some friends who are plant mad - their verandahs and their cattery are awash with plants, many that have been in their words, “Proplifted”. Aka, they liberated a cutting from somewhere (or someone) usually without asking if they could, and proceeded to propagate it.

I come from a long line of Proplifters. Many years ago my grandmother, who was visiting from England, very famously tried to snag something out of a rock wall garden at Canada’s very famous and amazing Butchart Gardens. And somehow my mom smuggled a bit of “Grandpa’s Lillies” from England to California. They grew magnificently at my mom and dad’s, my sister’s old house, and even in my garden in Utah.

Spring has sprung here and I have this very lovely orchid growing out of a tree. Guess what?

It was proplifted!

Last year when we were showing some visiting friends the country towns in our region we parked outside a house and growing out of the tree in front was this crazy orchid. I just had to have some. Just as I was secreting it away the house’s occupant came out to see what I (and my friend) were doing. Lucky for us rather than being appalled at our behaviour she actually encouraged us to take more! It turned what could have been an altercation into a lovely moment of connection.

Where am I going with this?

I’m going to share just how easy it is to Up Our Vibe by taking small bites from our Pillars of Health

  • a mindfulness bite by gardening

  • an environmental bite by leaning into the joy the natural world can give us

  • creativity & relationship bites by remembering funny family stories

  • a community bite by not shying away from making connections with strangers

This is what The Vibrancy Society means to me - realising that there are simple things we can do (although maybe not *ahem* stealing🌱) to change our vibration and feel happier and a little bit lighter inside our lives.

Movement Bite

If you haven’t yet watched the embedded video of Loose Hips & Elvis Sways here’s what you can expect:

You know those days when you feel a bit like a human bean bag and just want to schlemp your way to the floor? If you feel part puddle then this month’s movement bite is for you. Follow along with the video to explore easily moving your thigh bone in your hip socket and eventually adding a soft, juicy spine twist.

Things to note:

I am lying on a very hard floor so please be mindful of where you’re doing this. All you need to make sure is that your feet can slip and slide (it’s good with socks!)

And I had on not one necklace but two! So… my lapel mike picked up some metallic sounds as I was twisting so you might hear some crackling - oops.

Exploring Creativity, Threads & Bones

Woot woot! My podcast on creativity is back and ready to go. The first episode of season two drops next week and the trailer is out now (see below).

What can you expect? I’m calling it SOS, DS - Same Old Shit, Different Season. There will be more interviews with interesting people, more books on creativity reviewed, and more “I Dibs The Front Seat” episodes where you ride shotgun with me as I wax philosophic.

Listen here on Apple Podcasts:

Or here on Substack:

If you’re not on the list for podcast episode drops you can add it in your settings. Threads & Bones is its own “section” and you can toggle it on or off here

FYI this is how you find your settings for any of your Substack subscriptions. Just type in their url and add /settings at the end and your details should come up.

My Jacarandas are just starting to bloom!

The Dragonfly Schtudio

Besides teaching classes and private Pilates sessions both virtually and at my Schtudio, I’ve also hosted multiple mini 1/2 retreats. What started as a way to not only push myself out of my comfort zone and share my beautiful studio with more people, has turned into one of the most satisfying parts of my business life. Hosting them and co-creating with my guest teachers also supports my vibrant life through community and creativity.

This idea of continuing to want to evolve (is it just restlessness?) made me decide to turn the last offering of the year into a full day workshop.

It’s going to be so much fun - I just know it.

Two of my friends, whose names both happen to be Natalie are joining me to share their expertise. They’ve both been guest teachers already for my Move & Resonate and Move & Create mini retreats but this time they’ll be teaching on the same day. For a bit of fun I’m calling it: 💗2 NATS & A BEC.

If you’re going to be anywhere near the Gympie region on Sunday November 9th then I’m officially inviting you to come and if you register by Sunday October 12th with code YES! you’ll save 10%.

Archive Dive

I’m really proud of all most of the content I’ve written so I thought I’d share an old post for you to enjoy.

In honour of the first Wednesday of the month I’m sharing not only one of the first EOTMs (Exercise Of The Month) that I wrote, but it also happens to be the first exercise in the Classical Pilates mat flow.

I give you The Hundred:

You know I love hearing from you and I’m curious what resonated from this week’s missive? (c’mon you do have a fair amount of content to choose from)

Go ahead and let me know,

xBec
